Travel to Frankfurt + Cologne + Stuttgart in Germany

Lufthansa is my airline of choice for travelling to Germany - splurge on the Premium Economy it is worth it.

The train is very easy to use - Deutsche Bahn

They also offer flexible-time tickets. Just be prepared during a hot summer day as some of the trains do not have proper A/C.

FRANKFURT

  • Romerberg - sit down and appreciate the Gothic and picturesque environment of the town square.

  • Schaumainkai Street - walk along the Main River with many museums to choose from. My favorites were Liebieghaus and Städel Museum which are next to each other.

  • Kaiserdom - Frankfurt Cathedral.

STUTTGART

Walkable city located 1:45min train ride from Frankfurt.

  • Schlossplatz - sit down and appreciate the gardens

  • Neues Schloss - the New Palace located in Schlossplatz, make sure you walk along its sides to appreciate the gardens

  • Schillerplatz - quaint small square

  • Stiftskirche - Church located in Schillerplatz

  • Staatstheater

  • There are a lot of nearby museums to choose from

  • Ludwigsburg Residential Palace - worth it! you need to take a short taxi ride to get there. You could spend most of your day walking the gardens and the palace. There are places to eat within the gardens.

Fun fact - you can see Rapunzel's hair move up and down the Tower

COLOGNE

Walkable city located 1 hour train ride from Frankfurt.

  • Koln Duomo - impressive Church with high ceiling and thick marble columns.

  • Lindt chocolate factory - real life chocolate factory, you see the process and get to try a free sample, it smells delicious, the building is modern and aesthetically pleasing, make sure to stop by the cafe before you exit.

  • Walk along the Rhein River.

Eat:

  • Currywurst (sausage with curry ketchup and french fries) - it is considered a fast food kids meal locally but it is so good!

  • Veil Schnitzel - personal favorite German food.

  • Spaghettieis - ice cream dish made to resemble a plate of Spaguetti.
