"Inyun" is an ancient Korean concept of fated love that comes from Buddhism and the belief of reincarnation.
It tells that every encounter between people is "inyun". If two people have "inyun" it means their interactions are never random. It looks to explain the interconnectedness of events. Therefore, the present day relationship of two people is the product of countless interactions that the two may have had in their past lives. It take eight thousand layers of "inyun", in other words 8,000 interactions in their past lives, for two people to be together in a lifetime.
It gives solace that what 'could have been' might happen in your next life or happened in a past life, missed opportunities, unrequited love.
A witch once told my husband we have been together in eight of our past lives. And while I am not sure I believe in reincarnation, I do believe my soul recognized his light.
