nostalgia: 90's kids toys

A walk down memory lane for a girl born in the 90's. It is impressive how objects hold so many memories. Of a simpler time. Of letting imagination run wild.

Of putting my gray and purple furry Furby to sleep at night. Of spending hours fighting over Barbie's house set-up with my sister. Of endless road trips playing Bop It!. Of sewing my American Girl's new jeans with my grandmother. Of buying my American Girl, who looked just like me, a uniform from my school. Of the soundtrack for Ice Age on a purple Nintendo Gameboy Advance. Of jumping Skip-It! with endless energy in my garage. Of making ice shaves by using all my strength to push down on the snowman's head with Mr. Blizzard. Of playing "casita" in our little yellow and blue made-to-our-size house. Of putting on my blue 'angel' t-shirt to dress as Cloe my favorite Bratz. Of waking up Christmas morning to see Poo-Chi (the robot dog) beside my bed. Of making friendship bracelets with thread patterns at the beach. Of my Furby-themed birthday party at Dinotropolis (amusement park) which actually included a piñata. Of my sister looking up at the Sky Dancers in our backyard. Of spending what felt like hours playing in the computer to create the perfect Barbie and printing it to show my dad. Of feeling like a grown-up using the Easy Bake Oven with my cousin. Of being angry at my mom for washing my Doodle Bear. Of filling out my Pocahontas coloring book. Of using my dad's white pages with Fashion Plates. Of the smell of plastic from Betty Spaghetty's bending legs.

Nostalgia is a strange thing.
